Rent TeamSpeak 3 Server

What is TeamSpeak?

TeamSpeak (colloquially abbreviated to TS) is a communication system (often known as Voice-Over-IP) that allows you to write and mainly talk to other people on the Internet. TeamSpeak is used in all gaming areas, no matter if MMORPG, Shooter, MOBA or other genres. Especially in the tactical area, where quick agreements between the players are mandatory, TeamSpeak is the ideal solution. The current version is TeamSpeak 3, its predecessors are no longer used. The program is available free of charge, which is why almost everyone uses it, although only very few have their own server.

TeamSpeak has become popular among players mainly thanks to its simple channel structure, very short delay and particularly good sound quality. Direct alternatives such as Mumble or Ventrilo have not been able to keep up, especially in the German-speaking world. Skype or Discord are frequently used, but both usually have different target groups, as they are used especially for the chat function or, in the case of Skype, for the video function.

An own TeamSpeak server - The most important at a glance

TeamSpeak promotes communication among each other and anyone who wants to play and talk with friends from all over the world usually can't get around this program. Often you think about an own server for the common group or guild. We will explain to you when it is worth renting a server and what things you should pay attention to.

A music bot for the TS3 server can be very practical, especially if you like to listen to music. The best thing to do is to have a look at our comparison, there you will also find an overview with all the features a music bot brings along.

Do we really need a server?

The question of whether you really need your own server is something you have to answer for yourself first and foremost. If you are a guild/group that meets regularly and likes to have a place for yourself, then having your own server is definitely a good choice. If you are rarely in TeamSpeak, there are public servers for almost every game and community where you can create a temporary and sometimes even permanent channel. If you run a community yourself, you should definitely offer a server. Sometimes you can find more people to get the money together, and sometimes it's a good idea to give different guilds or groups their own areas on the server.

Having your own server has many advantages. You can set up the channels, assign passwords to certain areas, and even include an agenda, general tips, or advertisements in the channel descriptions. If you also have the rights, you can remove people who misbehave or harm your community from the server yourself.

What does my server need to be able to do?

The success of TeamSpeak is also due to its simple structure. When buying a server, you can mainly influence the following four things:

  • Number of users
  • IP name
  • File transfer
  • Voice codecs

The number of users should depend on your personal group/guild. Assuming you play with a group of 5 players, about 10 slots are worthwhile, because you might want to have a second group with friends to train or just talk to a few more people. If you run a large guild, clan or your own community, you will of course need a larger number of slots.

The name of the IP is a nice bonus, which is especially worthwhile if you want to attract a lot of players to your server. It just sounds better if you have a server with "Clanname.de" instead of "12345:6789". But if you play only in a small group, you can do without this bonus.

Another bonus is the file transfer, which you can use with TeamSpeak servers. You are able to upload files to a channel and others can download them. There are cases where file transfer is a good thing, but most of the time you don't need it. A few MB included are quite nice, but you should not book a complete flat rate (unless it is included from the beginning), because it is usually only unnecessarily expensive.

What you should pay attention to is the availability of all voice codecs. Some players still have a poorer Internet connection and want channels in lower quality, so as not to strain their line too much. Other players go for the best possible quality, while others want to have special channels with a special focus on music.

Music Bots

Music bots are a nice addition to TeamSpeak servers, but you should distinguish between different types. On the one hand you can build your own music bots, which are then controlled by you as a new client in the channel. For this you have to change some of your sound settings.

The other alternative is to buy a bot directly. You can control it via web interface, send it music and listen to the same songs together in the channel. This is especially recommended for the cosy after-work guild that likes to sit together and listen to music.
