Needing a Rust server host, I went with Shockbyte because they were recommended by Facepunch. Several of my players warned me (after I'd signed up for 3 months) that "no one ever heard of a happy Shockbyte customer." I'm here to say that that record remains unbroken. Absolute zero customer service; I had tickets in for DAYS. They "lured" me in with a lowball price to start, but as I run a modded 4500 size map, I had to immediately upgrade the RAM & CPU capacities. This isn't their fault but it would have been nice to know beforehand. Also, little things like "no decay", which had NEVER been an issue to install on previous servers, kept 'breaking' and I'd have to reinstall the command daily. The server went down continually around 10:30 am MST. I could set a clock by it. Eventually I told my players to stay off at that time. The final straw was that there was an outage of some sort on the first day of wipe, which yes, is a busy time - but I couldn't get into the server control panel to start the server FOR 3 HOURS. That's like a week in game time. I'm trying to build my population, and I know I lost at least 5 players over this issue. What really upset me was that I put in several urgent tickets - and didn't hear back from a human until THE NEXT DAY. I canceled service that day and went with Pine Hosting, who have been fantastic. I still had a month left with Shockbyte, but I didn't care. They were that bad. When I finally received a message from them, their answer was to apologize for the outage, blame the "extremely high number of tickets submitted" for their failure to respond in a timely manner, and offer me another week of garbage hosting. No, thank you. Unless you are a masochist and enjoy being ghosted, DO NOT USE THIS HOST. I'd be happy to discuss this with anyone who wants more details.
