Age of Empires IV in the presentation

On October 28, 2021, the time has finally come and the new Age of Empires IV will be released. The creators promise a lot of variety again with Age of Empires IV. No wonder, since it offers players a total of eight different races with numerous abilities, buildings and units to discover.

In contrast to the predecessors, however, the races are supposed to differ more clearly from each other. Thus, players were skeptical, because the legendary RTS offered a total of 13 races and thus a seemingly larger selection.

Age of Empires IV - Giant battlefields inspire

Age of Empires IV is based on the second and very popular part and is also set in the Middle Ages. According to the developer, this period offers so much potential and variety for players. Currently, it is still unknown exactly how many units players can send out, but 200 units per player is supposed to be the goal. So if you want to play four-on-four, you'll definitely be thrilled with 1600 units. In terms of graphics, the game has definitely been developed in line with the times, too. Players can already see the Middle Ages in their full color glory on the individual videos and images. Once again, the style of Age of Empires II comes through and reminds us of the fun and possibilities of the game back then.

What's new?

Unlike AOE II, units can now hide in the forests and set ambushes. In addition, individual units can probably improve the combat strength or morale of individual comrades and walls can be occupied by soldiers, which offers further advantages. Furthermore, there are many new features in terms of combat, such as a Mongolian horseman seen in the video, who blew through a horn, after which fireworks were shot into the air.

The game itself is supposed to be available in the Windows Store and on Steam, as well as being part of Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass subscription.
