The new DLC Aquatica for ARK: Survival Ascended is finally here - as part of the series' 10th anniversary, it takes you to the depths of the ocean.

However, the launch was not without turbulence: The trailer, largely AI-generated, triggered a wave of criticism in the community. But beyond the chaos lies a genuine underwater adventure with new creatures, biomes and mechanics.

Dive into a new world

In Aquatica, you find yourself on a destroyed ARK that has sunk underwater - around 95% of the map is now submerged. In five unique biomes you will encounter 17 new creatures, such as the majestic Monodon or the protective Mudpuppy. Lead Boots help you stand stable on the seabed, and you can build underwater bases with TEK Air Pockets. In total, there are 60 new engrams and 10 special recipes to match the aquatic environment.

Myth, story and environment

The DLC tells an independent, myth-like story about the source of the element. Two new characters accompany you on this non-canonical journey - perfect for newcomers, but also exciting for seasoned ARK veterans. The underwater setting introduces brand new gameplay mechanics and survival challenges.

Conclusion Lots of potential - but not a smooth start

Aquatica offers you a captivating underwater adventure with creative mechanics and a unique atmosphere - a real highlight of the ARK world. But the DLC is overshadowed by the trailer debacle, which clouds confidence in Snail Games. If you're ready to discover it nonetheless, a fascinating world with new challenges awaits you.
