ARK: Survival Ascended is the latest project from Studio Wildcard, the creative minds behind the popular dino adventure ARK: Survival Evolved. ASA is not a direct successor, as many fans expected. The official successor, "ARK 2", was recently postponed to the end of 2024.

ASA is a reworked version of the original game, based on Unreal Engine 5 and running optimized code. The game will be released on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

ARK: Survival Ascended aims to elevate the familiar survival experience into the modern era. In addition to using Unreal Engine 5, ASA also promises cross-platform modding, improved graphics and performance. The game is meant to usher in a new era of dino survival.

Why is Studio Wildcard developing ASA?

The developers cited three main reasons: First, to ensure the economic stability of the studio while ARK 2 is being developed. Second, to improve their skills working with Unreal Engine 5. And finally, to offer a classic ARK experience on an optimized code.

Today's livestream presentation surprised with the announcement that ARK: Survival Ascended is now available for PC on Steam. PS5 and Xbox Series players will have to wait another month.

The game promises a lavish remake with Unreal Engine 5, physics-based destruction, detailed environments and improved lighting. The user interface has also been overhauled and offers a wide range of customization options.

Cross-platform modding system

An exciting new feature is the cross-platform modding system that allows crossovers between different studios. A CurseFurge mod browser contains all user creations and promises endless gameplay fun.
