Authorization key / token

In TeamSpeak 3, access to server administration is controlled via authorization keys. Authorization keys expire after use. The keys can only be generated by the server or by a server admin.

How do I get authorization keys / tokens?

When creating a TeamSpeak 3 server, the first token is usually generated when the server is created. This is then displayed in the server log.

If it is a rented server, the hoster usually has a log view or a separate page for these tokens in its web interface.

On external TeamSpeak 3 servers, the server admin can create and send a new authorization key.

Important notes on authorization keys / tokens

  • The authorization key / token can only be used once at a time
  • If the authorization key / token has been used, it expires
  • If you revoke your own rights, this cannot be reversed

How do I become an admin on my own Teamspeak3 server?

How do I become an admin on a foreign Teamspeak3 server?

To get the admin rank on a foreign server, another server admin can create a token for you or, if you are also connected to the server, assign the rank directly.

Get rank via authorization key

The server admin must generate a new token, which you can then use to obtain the admin rank.

  1. in the menu item Rights the Authorization keys can be called
TeamSpeak 3 Server Token Create 1
  2. in the new popup a new authorization key can be created via the Create button
Create TeamSpeak 3 Server Token 2
  3. in the next step some settings can be made
    1. Type Is it a Server Group or a Channel Group. In our case, we want to create the authorization key for a server group.
    2. Group For which group should the authorization key be created. There we select Server Admin.
    3. Description Optionally, a description for the identification of the authorization key can be created.
  4. the authorization key is finally created with the 'Create' button. This can then be copied in the Created authorization key field
Create TeamSpeak 3 Server Token 3

Now you can follow the steps above from How do I become an admin on my own Teamspeak3 server to use the authorization key to give you the server admin group.

Assign rank directly

To assign the rank directly, another server admin as well as yourself must be connected to the TeamSpeak 3 server.

  1. the server admin must right-click on your name
  2. the server admin can now assign you a group directly via the 'Set server group' item
  3. in our case we choose Server Admin
    Assign TeamSpeak 3 Rank 1
  4. in the global server chat you will now see that you have been assigned the 'Server Admin' rank
    Assign TeamSpeak 3 rank 2
