Escape from Tarkov is set in the fictional region of Norvinsk, Russia. Following political and economic conflicts, the city of Tarkov has become a lawless zone. Private military corporations (USEC vs. BEAR), local scavs and corrupt government factions fight for control, while survivors try to secure their equipment and evade the dangerous authorities and other players.
Every raid begins with you starting with a PMC (Private Military Company) or as a Scav. Your goal: collect loot, complete missions, eliminate enemies - and finally reach an extraction point. If you die, you lose everything you had with you. Only those who plan cleverly, are prepared and know their surroundings will survive.
Escape from Tarkov places great emphasis on realism: detailed weapon modifications, real ballistics model, splinter-through, penetration effects, management of health on body parts (e.g. bleeding, fractures), as well as weight, stamina and energy management. No HUD magazine counter, every round counts.
In addition to raids, you can track your progress through merchants who give out quests and unlock new items. Your Hideout serves as a safe haven that you can expand - with resources, generators, medical facilities, etc. Skills improve through repeated actions.
PMC Raids: Your main character, the full risk.
Scav Raids: Start as a "Borrower" with equipment that is not your personal property - lower risk.
Offline mode: Practice against AI without jeopardizing gameplay.
Numerous maps with different areas, weather and time of day conditions increase immersion.
Escape from Tarkov is not a shooter for casual gaming - it is a challenge that requires patience, tactics and a willingness to learn. If you enjoy taking every shot and every decision seriously, and if permadeath ("lose everything if you die") doesn't put you off, you'll find your masterpiece here. For fans of hardcore shooter simulations, Tarkov is one of the best places to go - especially with the release of version 1.0 on the horizon.
