Modern comic style meets survival RPG
The first thing that stands out is the chosen art style. One look and you're reminded of one of the biggest hits of the last few years: Fortnite. But this is deceptive. There are features that are quite similar. But if you're expecting Frozen Flame to be just a copycat, you couldn't be more wrong. Like developers of other big games in other genres - such as free-to-play monster slayer Dauntless or the strategy game series Civilization with its sixth installment in the series - Dreamside also discovered the advantages of this graphic style. Even though it unfortunately enjoys a bad reputation among some, there's no denying how practical the style is for developers and also players. It is cheaper to develop and ultimately offers more possibilities and a much better overview.
Frozen Flame
It won't be long before the innovative survival action RPG Frozen Flame enters the stage. Announced for the fall of 2020, it promises to bring some interesting approaches to the recently extensively served genre of multiplayer survival games. But what exactly does the Russian developer studio Dreamside Interactive have in mind?
The game world - A completely unique character
In the setting of a mystical open world - filled with dragons, magical artifacts and magic - there is a lot to do. The standard game mode Cataclysm, for example, works a bit differently than the typical survival game. Normally, if the character dies, the game just starts all over again. It's different in Frozen Flame: Here, every progress the players have made up to this point is partially saved. Exactly how this will look in the finished game remains to be seen. What is known so far is that certain achievements or developments remain saved to ensure that even in the case of character death, the players get a little closer to the big goal. But this is only a small part of the RPG aspect, with which the developers want to make the game particularly appealing.
A deep role-playing experience
The developers want to offer nothing less with their action survival title, according to their own statements. For this purpose, they implement - in addition to the world simultaneously evolving to the player - talent trees, which can be filled individually with the help of the resource "The Flame". A complex building and magic system and a specially developed, particularly fast combat system is also included. Once you have familiarized yourself with the systems, the big picture awaits you. In this, the players join a so-called Order. For each Order, unique quests and missions can be completed that are tailored to the respective Order. Passionate PvP players can compete with hostile Order groupings in large battles. PvE players explore the world, dark dungeons and fight against ever stronger monsters to unlock the secrets of the sophisticated world.Interested parties can play on specially provided dedicated servers for up to 50 people, but also rent their own private servers and start their very own adventure in the novel world.
