What is Gamescom?

Gamescom is a world-renowned and the largest trade fair for computer and video games in terms of visitor numbers and exhibition space. Many manufacturers have the opportunity to present their latest software and hardware developments there. It has been held at the Koelnmesse exhibition center since 2009, where it attracts numerous visitors year after year.

Gamescom 2019 recorded its peak in terms of visitors, with 373,000 visitors meeting at Gamescom, of which 31,300 were trade visitors. Over 1,100 exhibitors were able to present their new developments on an area of over 218,000m².

How will Gamescom 2021 take place?

After having already realized a digital implementation of Gamescom in 2020, this year those responsible have again decided to hold a free online version of Gamescom. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, too many companies are unable to attend a physical event, which is why the organizers have decided for the online version to ensure maximum safety for all participants.

When will Gamescom 2021 take place?

Gamescom 2021 will take place from Wednesday, Aug. 25 to Friday, Aug. 27, 2021. A special feature will be the Opening Night Live on Wednesday evening, where special guest Geoff Keighley will be there, among others. For more information on the timed dates, see here.

The 'Cosplay Village 2021' will also take place this year as in previous years, but Gamescom has so far only announced that a varied program with various international cosplayers, musicians and show acts is planned.

What is special this year?

Gamescom has always been and will always be an event for the worldwide fans from the gaming scene. For this reason, the organizers of Gamescom have thought of creating the community action 'Gamescom epix'. There, visitors and fans of Gamescom can already solve various quests and achieve successes with the entire community before Gamescom to bring the ultimate Gamescom feeling to life. Via social media promotions from various partners, visitors will be able to grab unique prizes during Gamescom 2021, which will be guarded in the large Gamescom vault.

Like last year, there will also be the Gamescom Studio and gamescom:Awesome Indies. There will be a varied and entertaining livestream program, such as exclusive demos or interviews with developers. More information about testing different games will be published in the near future.
