Connect to your ARK server
With the different platforms and stores, it quickly becomes confusing as to exactly how you or your friends can now connect to your ARK server.
Steam
- Start Steam and open the
Favorites
underView
->Servers
- Add your ARK server with IP address and port (e.g. 12.34.56.78:12345)
- You can get the IP address and the port from your hoster in the web interface
- Now you can connect directly to your ARK server via your favorites
- Or: You start ARK first, filter in the game for
Favorites
and then connect to your server
Start directly on the server
You can also configure ARK in Steam so that when you start ARK, you spawn directly to your server.
- Start Steam and open the
Library
- Right click on the game
ARK: Survival Evolved
- Open the menu
Properties
and click on 'Set launch options - Add the parameter
+connect 12.34.45.67:123456
to the startup options- If your server is password protected, you have to add
+password YOURPASSWORD
as additional parameter
- If your server is password protected, you have to add
- Confirm your settings with
OK
and start the game
Epic Games Version
First of all you have to make the following changes to your server.
- If you want to play crossplay add the
-crossplay
parameter- If you don't want to crossplay, i.e. don't want to play together with Steam users, add the
-epiconly
parameter
- If you don't want to crossplay, i.e. don't want to play together with Steam users, add the
- Remove the
-automanagedmods
parameter, because no mods are supported- You must also disable mods in general
Currently there are two ways to join an unofficial dedicated server.
Option 1
- Change the server name
- Restart your server
- Search for the server name in the server list
Option 2
- Start ARK as usual
- Connect to any server and create a character
- Open the console with the
Tab
key - Enter the command
open IP:PORT
in the console- You can get the IP address and the port from your hoster in the web interface
- Confirm with
Enter
and you will connect to your ARK server
