Install mods in ARK
Mods are a fundamental part of the gaming world these days. Mods also play a big role in ARK, especially when you play with your friends on an ARK server.
How do I install mods?
Client (Steam)
- Open Steam and navigate to the game
ARK: Survival Evolved
and open theCommunity Hub
- Under the tab
Workshop
you will find all available mods - Pick a mod, click on it and
Subscribe
to it- Important: always pay attention to the mod description and the comments, if further steps are necessary for this mod
- After that Steam will download this mod and update it automatically even with updates
- When you start the game, you will see in the bottom right corner if the mods are installed
Server (FTP)
- Open Steam and navigate to the game
Ark: Survival Evolved
and open theCommunity Hub
- Under the tab
Workshop
you will find all available mods - Pick a mod, click on it and
subscribe
to it- Important: always pay attention to the mod description and the comments, if further steps are required for this mod
- After downloading you will find the files in the directory
\Steam\steamapps\common\ARK\ShooterGame\Content\Mods\
- Connect now via FTP to your server
- Copy the folder of the mod and the file with the extension
.mod
via FTP to your server underShooterGame/Content/Mods/
- Search for the mod ID in the community hub
- Open the mod page again, where you also subscribed to it
- In the URL is now the mod ID, you have to copy it
- Open via FTP the
GameUserSettings.ini
in theShooterGame/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/
directory - Add in the file at
ActiveMods
the mod ID of your downloaded mod - Save the file and restart your server
Mods on the console
There are currently no mods available for PlayStation or XBOX.
