A Steam group offers players enormous advantages. By creating a group, the founder and administrator of Steam has all the tools they need to manage the group. These groups can be used to coordinate online games, share screenshots, initiate discussions and even set up a whitelist for your own servers.
How do I create a group on Steam?
Creating a Steam group is very simple. All the necessary steps are carried out directly in the Steam client.
Start Steam Client
- select user name in the upper button next to `Community
- another drop-down menu appears
- select the item

Create Steam Group
- select the item 'Create group' in the group menu
- the group data can be entered in the following window
Group name
: Give your group an individual name and check it directly for availability- 'Abbreviation': Set an abbreviation for your group and also check this directly for availability
Group link
: Create a personal group link with which your group page can be accessed from the web browser- set
publicity
: Specify whether your group should be a public or private group.
- click on 'Create' - Congratulations! You have created your own Steam group.
What is the difference between public and private Steam Groups?
In public Steam groups, any interested player can join. In private groups, players can only join the group by requesting to join or by invitation.
