You don't like the current building style or the generated world and a new world should be created to try your luck in a new place.
Singleplayer
In the singleplayer you can easily create a new world.
- In the menu under
Singleplayer
you can find the buttonCreate New World
- There you can make different settings
- For example: game mode, difficulty, game rules and many others
- With the button
Create New World
the world will be generated with the made settings
Multiplayer
In multiplayer mode, that is on your Minecraft server, this is not done as quickly as in singleplayer.
To create a new world on your Minecraft server you have two options:
Option 1
Generate a new world by deleting the current world and encouraging the server to create a new one.
- Stop your Minecraft server
- Connect to your Minecraft server via FTP
- In the root directory you should directly find the
world
folder- If you don't find it: In the
server.properties
file, check thelevel-name
option. This name corresponds to the folder name of your world.
- If you don't find it: In the
- Delete the
world
folder- Caution: This will delete your world irrevocably. Unless you made a backup before, you will not be able to restore it!
- Start your Minecraft server, after that a new world will be generated automatically
- You can watch and verify the world generation via the console or the logs
Option 2
Generate a new world by renaming the world name (level-name
), thus creating an additional world.
- Stop your Minecraft server
- Connect via FTP to your Minecraft server
- In the root directory you will find the
server.properties
file, open it with an editor - Search for the option
level-name
and change its value to any value you want- The default value of this option is `world
- Try to use only letters without special characters in the name (a-z/A-Z)
- Start your Minecraft server, after that a new world will be generated automatically
- Via the console or the logs you can watch and verify the world generation
- As a new world is generated, the previous one will still exist and can be easily reactivated by renaming the
level-name
