Locations & extraction

  • Killed spiders (day & night, also cave spiders) - Drop from 0-2 threads

  • Destroy spider webs with scissors or sword (preferably with caution)

  • Chests in dungeons, temples or bastions

  • cats - Occasionally bring the player threads as a gift (in the morning, after taming and sleeping)

  • Trade - Thread can occasionally be bought from villagers (e.g. shepherds)

Use

Crafting:

  • Bow (3 sticks + 3 threads)

  • Fishing rod (3 sticks + 2 threads)

  • Crossbow (3 sticks + 2 strings + iron + hook)

  • Line (4 threads + 1 slime ball = 2 lines)

  • Wool (4 threads = 1 wool)

Redstone mechanism:

  • Used to activate hook and trip wire

Decoration:

  • Can be placed on surfaces as a virtually invisible block (e.g. for carpet placement without backing block)

Tips

  • Spider farms are suitable for automatic thread production

  • Use threads to secure bases with tripwire traps

  • In combination with carpets, invisible bridges or decorative elements can be created

Trivia

  • Threads can also be stretched horizontally between two hooks (trip wire)

  • Threads are not recognized by Villagers and do not interfere with their path

  • Thread can be placed on blocks to prevent mob spawns on glass or carpets
