Bells in Minecraft
The bell is a central block in Minecraft villages that warns villagers of danger and makes enemies visible during raids. Also decorative and usable via redstone.
Locations
-
Naturally in villages, mostly near the meeting place (usually by the fountain or central square)
-
Can be mined with tools (e.g. pickaxe) and placed anywhere
-
Not craftable, only available through mining or trade (e.g. from the weaponsmith)
Functions
Villager behavior:
-
When the bell is rung (right-click, redstone signal or projectile), all villagers run to their houses
-
Particularly useful during a raid or when an enemy is spotted
Visual effects:
- During active raids, briefly mark nearby enemies with a glow effect (from version 1.14)
Redstone:
-
Reacts to redstone signals (e.g. button, lever, daylight sensor)
-
Can be activated by arrow, snowball or trident
Placement
-
On the side of blocks

Under ceilings
-
On the floor
