Goats are neutral mountain animals that perform long and high jumps and drop goat horns when rammed. These horns make sounds and turn goats into exciting farm and role-play animals.

  • Behavior - Jump often and far, occasionally ramming players and other mobs

  • Variants - Normal and rare Screaming Goat (drops goat horns more often)

Breeding

  • Food - Wheat

  • Two fed goats produce one kid

  • Young animals grow up in approx. 20 minutes (faster with more wheat)

Goat horns

  • Are dropped when a goat hits solid blocks (e.g. stone, copper block) during ramming

  • Players can receive up to 8 different sounds (e.g. "Admire", "Call", "Dream")

  • Useful for signals, roleplay or music

Behavior when ramming

  • Goats occasionally select a target and perform a rush after a short loading time

  • Players can dodge to get targeted goat horns

  • Screaming goats ram more often and are therefore more efficient for horn farms

Tips

  • Keep goats in enclosures with solid walls (e.g. stone blocks) to make it easier to farm goat horns

  • Use lines to position goats in a targeted manner

  • If a goat jumps particularly high, it may be a screaming goat - easily recognizable by sounds

Trivia

  • Goats jump up to 10 blocks

  • They suffer no fall damage

  • Goat horns were the first items in Minecraft that can be used to create music by players
